Leadership Seminar Series
"Creating the Future: Educational Leadership for Tomorrow's Schools"
Creating the future is a leadership development program for school administrators and aspiring administrators in Prince Edward Island. The program was developed by the Faculty of Education, University of Prince Edward Island under the direction of Dr. Gerry Hopkirk. The program will be offered as a series of six full-day seminars with all six being completed within a school year.
Based on a reflective model the seminars will integrate current leadership theory with its practical applications in school settings. The seminars will provide participants with a solid practical knowledge base and skill level necessary to continue their development as educational leaders.
A wide variety of approaches will be used in the delivery of these seminars. Simulations, role- plays, group problem solving, collaborative learning and coaching will be used to ensure that the content is relevant, practical and that participants have opportunities to practice essential skills. Each seminar will conclude with "Reflection and Action Plans" where participants will commit to some action based on the seminar's leanings. Results will be shared at the subsequent session and peer coaching used for encouragement and support.
