Saskatchewan Module
"The School-Based Administrator: Working with People"
This module is the first in a series of six modules developed by the Saskatchewan Professional Development Unit for the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation. The modules are based upon developmental principles determined by the SSBA Provincial Project Team. The program was designed to provide school-based administrators with professional development experiences that will assist in the pursuit of leadership excellence. All modules are based on current research and are sensitive to the practical needs of school-based administrators.
Applicable to real-life situations, the modules are self-directed and experiential. They reflect a diversity of perspectives and address knowledge, skills and attitudes. The strength of the program is based on its interactive nature, one of a learning community that is growing and sharing rather than one based on a transmission of information.
This first module is a 4-day intensive session which would run on a Wednesday-Saturday format. The content outline includes:
Working with People:
- The Learning Community
- Personal styles
- Time and stress management
- Communicating
- Leadership practices inventory
- Adult growth and development
- Power and authority
- Change
- Meetings
- Community and Public Relations
This module will be offered on November 22-25, 2000, and again on February 28 - March 3, 2001. The target group for this program would be vice-principals and aspiring administrators only.
