1. Orchestrating Success
August 18 & 19 - Functional Behaviour Assessment and Developing Behaviour Plans (École François-Buote, Charlottetown)
August 20 & 21 - Adapting & Modifying Curriculum and Reading Strategies (École François-Buote Charlottetown)

Teachers and school counsellors have the option of attending either for 2 days or all 4 days.

The Department of Education, Student Services Division in collaboration with a steering committee of its partners, is offering this Summer Institute for special education/resource teachers, classroom teachers, school counsellors, early childhood educators and others providing direct instruction or service to students. It will present practical instructional skills to assist educators in meeting the needs of students with learning or behavioural challenges. The four days will be loaded with practical ideas and ready to use strategies.

Facilitator
Author and Educator, Dawn Reithaug

Dawn Reithaug is a well recognized author and presenter who has a wealth of teaching experience in her native province of B.C. The Department of Education has provided two of her books, Orchestrating Academic Success and Orchestrating Success in Reading to all Island schools. A third book, Orchestrating Positive and Practical Behaviour Plans is well-known to many teachers and school counsellors.

2. Découvrir le bonheur de lire
le 19 et 20 août 2003 à Charlottetown

La division française offre un Institut d'été portant sur la motivation en lecture. Cet institut est destinée aux enseignants et enseignantes des programmes francophones et immersion de la 1ére à la 12e année. L'Institut sera d'une durée de deux jours et l'auteure et l'animatrice très bien connue du Québec, Dominique Demers, animera la première journée. Son atelier portera sur la motivation en lecture dans la salle de classe pour l'élève et pour l'enseignant et l'enseignante.

Le deuxième jour sera consacré à des façons concrètes de rejoindre les élève en lecture. Cet institut touchera directement les besoins adressés par le plan en littératie pour les écoles.

Coûts
Cet institut sera offert gratuitement. Le Ministère offrira un montant fixe pour aider à défrayer les coûts de déplacement.

3. Computer Summer Institutes
A variety of dates in both July and August in Charlottetown and Summerside. Sessions will be 1/2 day to 1 day in length.

Topics will include practical ideas on how to integrate technology into the curriculum at various grade levels as well as instruction on specific software programs.

Registration
Registration will be covered by the Department of Education. Travel costs will be paid to participants. Registration will take place on-line from June 2 to 20 at http://www.edu.pe.ca/signup. You are encouraged to register early as spaces are limited.
